Russell, Charles M.
Charles Russell devoted his life to recording the spirit of the Old West. Nicknamed the Cowboy Artist, he captured the life of the Old West in oil and bronze portraying Indians, frontiersmen, cowboys and even the animals of the western plains and mountains. He traveled west at the age of 16 working as a cowboy and never returned east to live. During his lifetime, he created about 2,600 paintings, drawings and pieces of sculpture that illustrate an important part of American history.
