Story of B&B Archive
The Brown & Bigelow Archive is a major collection of artwork subjects and photos accumulated as a byproduct of our calendar business spanning over 100 years. This archive was created by over 86 different artists who produced multiple subjects annually over a number of years.
This collage of art includes the exciting westerns of Charles Russell and Frederick Remington; the sporting scenes of Philip Goodwin and Frank Hoffman; the humorous “poker dogs” of C.M. Coolidge; the wildlife of Sweeney; the landscapes of Maxfield Parrish and the work of America's best known artist, Norman Rockwell. We also feature hundreds of pin-ups by Gil Elvgren, Rolf Armstrong, Earl Moran, Zoe Mozert and others. The collection includes the work of contemporary wildfowl artists, David Maass and Richard Bishop.
We also have a large library of photos dating back to the Twenties as well as hundreds of the actual glass plates used for reproduction in the early days. Quite a number of the dies used to 'bump out' images to create a three dimensional effect on specific subjects are archived, too. Plus, we have a separate archive of playing card overruns illustrating logos and designs used by business from the mid 1930's forward.
